THE BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COOPERATIVE             UNION OF VOJVODINA

The cooperative union of Vojvodina maintains the tradition of an organized cooperative that was established in 1898 along with the foundation of the Union of Serbian agricultural cooperatives. In 1928 the Union moved its main office from Zagreb to Novi Sad and was then reorganized in 1946.
In accordance with law restrictions at the time, the Union stopped working on September 15th 1962 and was then reactivated on March 14th 1975. In 1991 and 1997, The Cooperative Union of Vojvodina harmonized its organisation with the 1990 and 1996 Law on Cooperatives, which in addition opened a new chapter and marked out a route in establishing a cooperative movement at cooperative principles.
